You can always travel around Europe by train. However, if you want to explore the countryside, villages and distant sights you’d better rent a car. Furthermore, a car hire offers you flexibility and comfort unmatched by other means of transportation. This comes at a higher price though. Therefore, you should look careful when selecting you car hire provider.
This is exactly what I did when planning my family trip in Italy. We had decided to start our trip in Florence, rent a car and travel our way to Rome. We also chose some other interesting places to visit on the way. There is so much to see in Italy but we had to make due with two weeks. Just take a look at this
I started the search for a good car hire deal online. This is how I came across car hire. This website features a good search engine that compares the offerings of big car hire agencies that offer services in Italy. You just fill in your criteria and get a detailed list with the deals. I chose a Volkswagen Passat for the three of us. I prefer driving manual with air conditioning. I made the reservation, added my wife as additional driver and paid online. I also opted for excess coverage car hire insurance and GPS satellite navigation system.
We arrived at the rome Airport around 6 in the afternoon. Half an hour after going through customs we were already in the car rental rome. I was pleasantly surprised at the efficiency of the agency staff. I came in and introduced myself and found out they were already expecting me. They showed me the car, I signed the papers and left as all other details were already arranged online. There was no hassle, waiting or other procedures. They also gave me some tips and some brochures about what we definitely have to see in the city. I look forward to the rest of our Italian holiday.

Florence Italy accommodation as far as hotel and farmhouse are concerned, let your imagination go from richly furnished five star hotels either in the hub of the city or smaller town accommodations, hidden away in the green hued countryside. From palaces to castles exquisitely decorated and pensions or guesthouses owned by friendly local people. These all year round lodgings have a wide price range but you can assured that good bargains are to be found in the low season. Florence welcomes everybody to be comfortable and caters to everyone’s budget.
Wealth and Comfort in Florence Italy
The Savoy Hotel is a favourite for those wishing to fulfil a desire for luxury sleeping, not forgetting the shopping gallery and excellent cuisine at the restaurant. The Hotel II Guelfo Bianco on the Via Cavour right near the San Marco Square has antique art treasures and original paintings and excellent commodities. Or maybe a stay at the Grand Hotel Baglioni with its sweeping grey stone stairway so typical of many Florentine monuments and wooden beams decorating the ceiling all which give you that special feeling of peace and relax.
Florence city needs to be visited during an extended period of time and if this is not feasible, then short visits are ideal to take in all the museums. And for me, one of the best ways to do this is by staying in a small town farmhouse near Florence and with your Florence car rental, enjoy small joints into the city. One of the cutest medieval towns nearby is San Gimignano, situated in the triangle of Siena, Florence and Volterra. San Gimignano is undoubtedly known for its thirteen remaining towers of the original seventy-two which once existed. Here, you can have sweet dreams sleeping in a mansion from the 14th century and have breakfast in a precious patio. Or in a rural house with high ceilings and worked iron beds.
